UPDATE 2: Sadly, during the rescue effort we lost a foal, born prematurely at the feedlot, and a mare that went into labor on the feedlot, and perforated her uterus. The rest of the horses, and new foals, have been saved, transported and placed into rescue organizations and loving homes. We could not have pulled this off without you. Thank you for your generous donations!
UPDATE: We learned that the two bay mares have already foaled on the feedlot while awaiting rescue. One of these foals was lost, the second is in very bad shape. A third mare died during labor due to a ruptured uterus.
We quickly advanced funds to move the mares to a temp layover facility the second we heard of this tragedy. The two bay mares that foaled on the lot are in poor shape, but we are doing what we can. It's been a rough couple days...
In addition, we added seven more horses to the list, two of which have foals with them. This is still a critical situation that has resulted in two deaths and several beautiful animals who are near death.
We must raise the remaining funds by Friday, April 24. We have also had to add several horses to this group. Please review the list below.
New additions are in brown.
The deadline of APRIL 24 remains the same.
WE THANK ALL WHO HAVE RESPONDED! Please continue to help us by forwarding this page to others who care about the plight of animals the world over.
Please help us save these
beautiful animals!
They are
scheduled for transport to slaughterhouses
on:
Friday, April 24
We must now raise $5,900 to save these animals.
Please consider offering a donation, a foster home, or even a permanent home for these noble horses. In order to save these animals, we must pay the feed truck what they deem the animal's value if they were taken to slaughter.
These beautiful animals are at a feedlot in Nevada waiting to be loaded onto a truck bound for the slaughterhouse. These horses are out of options. They have no advocates and no hope for rescue unless we step up for them. Please find it in your heart to help these horses, either by donating to the rescue effort, offering to foster or adopt a horse, or both. Transport will be arranged.
