Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Special Olympics of Iowa!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
Our first year was such a success that we are again "freezing for a reason" this year. Of course, we are always pushing the limits so this year my wife ShaRee and I are started off with a plunge in Council Bluffs on March 21st as a teaser in hopes of raising enough money to participate in the SUPER PLUNGE which takes place in Des Moines on November 7th.
What is the Super Plunge you ask? Well I have been challenged to raise a total of $2,000 in donations for Special Olympics Iowa this year. If I can do this I will plunge in Saylorville Lake located in Des Moines once an hour for 24 straight hours. Yes….that’s 24 plunges - one plunge every hour on the hour. This fearful experience will take place on November 6th and 7th and consists of a few "crazy" plungers. ShaRee will be my support person keeping me motivated and awake.
As some of you may know Iowa Law Enforcement Agencies are the largest fundraising organization for the Special Olympics and support over 13,000 athletes, a giant leap from 100 athletes in 1968. In 2007 I decided to take a more active role in this charity by becoming the liaison for the DPS and this charity. It continues to be a wonderful experience and I have witnessed first hand the great work Special Olympics Iowa does for our Athletes.
We know this has been a tough year for some of us but this is a great cause and any donation would be awesome. 100% of your donation will go directly to the Iowa Special Olympics. This is important because this program is completely put on by donations.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thanks so much,
Donnie, ShaRee, and Thatcher
