Scleroderma Foundation - Cooking Up a Storm

Start Fundraising

Welcome to the Scleroderma Foundation's Cooking Up a Storm Firstgiving Page

What …

It’s a simple concept, the Scleroderma Foundation wants to have a number of intimate, community-based dinner parties, designed to generate awareness, education, and funds for the Foundation.

This will be accomplished through friends of the Foundation, like you, hosting personal dinner parties, all across the country, in your home or a nearby restaurant or function facility.

Who ...

Hosts: Hosts/hostesses can be friends, family, Chapter or Support Group leaders and members. Hosts’ responsibilities will include donating the food and beverage they serve as well as their cooking preparation time.

Guests: In addition to the host(s), each dinner party will have 6–10 guests who will be asked to make a donation to attend the dinner.

The host/hostess is encouraged to invite friends, family, co-workers, and business or community leaders who do not have any knowledge of scleroderma. In addition to a night of good food, drink, and camaraderie, guests will be asked to view a short video on scleroderma, hear from the host about their connection to the disease, and take home an information packet.

Goal …

We want to boost awareness of scleroderma and the work of the Scleroderma Foundation by inviting as many people as possible, from around the country, to hear our story—through you!

Website …

Hosts wishing to take advantage of having guests RSVP and donate via credit card on line, can list their dinner by creating a fundraising page here.

It only takes a few minutes to set up your own dinner page, and once your site is up and running you can e-mail all your invited guests to let them know about your dinner.

Sign up for a fundraising page today!  Your contributions will support the mission of the Scleroderma Foundation through the services of the national office.

Our Three-Fold Mission of Support, Education, and Research

Support: To help patients and their families cope with scleroderma through mutual support programs, peer counseling, physician referrals, and educational information.

Education: To promote public awareness and education through patient and health professional seminars, literature, and publicity campaigns.

Research: To stimulate and support research to improve treatment and ultimately find the cause of and cure for scleroderma and related diseases.

While we budget over $1 million per year for new research into the cause and cure of scleroderma, we also consider the other two parts of our mission very important.

The Foundation offers numerous ways that you can help us. Here are a few:

  1. Join a "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" walk near you.
  2. Host a "Cooking Up a Storm for Scleroderma" event.
  3. Support the "Scleroderma Striders" program by running in an event of your choice and/or donating to the program.
  4. Run your own event!
