Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! (***Want to have your donation matched?? Ask your company!!)As many of you know my oldest son Max has Neurofibromatosis (NF). Because of his NF, Max has had to and will have to face many challenges in his lifetime. He currently suffers from learning disabilities which include speech problems, decreased muscle tone, numerous café au laite spots (coffee stain like birthmarks), spots on his brain which are like the café au laite spots on his skin (these are not harmful) and a plexiform neurofibromas (larger, more complex tumor) on his right elbow. He also was diagnosed with a brain tumor in November 2002 for which he had surgery. The tumor caused fluid to become trapped around his brain and the surgery relieved this problem. The tumor is inoperable and is followed closely by his doctors.
Knowing the challenges that Max has, I decided to challenge myself to get in the best possible shape and to stay healthy myself so that I can be there for Max and his brothers as they grow. In doing this I started running. Finding that I can run and feel good, I decided to start running races. My first was the Gold's Gym 5k in Millis and I'm planning on running the Boston Marathon in 2008. In between there will hopefully be a few others.
I want to use this page and my races to raise funds for Neurofibromatosis research and to keep you updated on my races.
