Thank you for visiting my Boston Marathon 2007 Personal Fundraising Page.  As you are aware I am running the 2007 Boston marathon for an extremely worthy charity - Thompson Island Outward Bound. 

Thompson Island Outward Bound provides the opportunity for 5,000 young people each year to participate in Outward Bound expeditions and grow and learn through outdoor education.  The funds raised through the Thompson Island Boston Marathon team will be used to provide funding for Boston 's youth - many of whom come from communities that are plagued by violence, gangs, drugs, and low expectations. The programs challenge these youth physically, mentally, and spiritually – opening their eyes to their own potential to change themselves and make a difference to the world.  Without the generous funding received through initiatives such as this many of these youth would not be able to participate as 78% of the participants in the Thompson Island Choices program are from low-income families and all student attendance is highly subsidized.  

As well, as many of you know I myself am a graduate of two Outward Bound courses, and as such firmly believe in both the Outward Bound mission and the results of its programs.  For more information on the Thompson Island Outward Bound school and the Outward Bound mission as a whole please go www.thompsonisland.org.

As an added bonus, Tom Niles, a Thompson Island Outward Bound Advisor and a former avid runner, has offered a $15,000 matching grant to support our Marathon Team's fundraising efforts and the important programs offered on Thompson Island .
