Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As many of you already know, our son Sebastian was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome last November.  Angelman Syndrome is a very rare genetic disorder (1 in 20,000) for which there is currently no cure.   You can learn more about Angelman Syndrome and the ASF at www.angelman.org.  

We are fundraising for the ASF Walk-A-Thon in Philadelphia on May 17th, 2008. The annual walk-a-thon is the primary fundraiser for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation ("ASF") and the main mechanism through which we can fund research related to Angelman Syndrome.  Because Angelman is so rare, we financial resources for research are scarce, so every penny helps.

Those of you who have met him know that Sebastian is a very happy, sociable kid.  Despite 20 hours of therapy a week, he is always happy and very focused on improving his skills.  He began to walk just 10 days before his third birthday and hasn’t stopped since. While he will not walk the entire 5k, I’m sure he will want to walk a good portion of it. We are extremely proud of Sebastian and celebrate his every achievement, whether big or small.  We are grateful for all of your support throughout the past two years and thank you in advance for any help that you can provide us.
