My youngest son Seth has neurofibromatosis (NF1). NF affects 1 in every 4000 births. It is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves anywhere within his body. It can also cause bony deformities. Seth has a large bump on his chest and wears a brace on his leg. Our biggest concerns with Seth are the lesions in his brain and the large tumor in his chest. His tumors are monitored very carefully with MRIs every three months. We travel to Winnipeg often to see Seth's numerous doctors. The last visits were to discuss options with the oncologist, cardiologist and neurosurgeon. In addition, nearly 50% of all people with NF have learning disabilities. It can be very scary to think about Seth's future, but I feel most helpless when I have to hold Seth down while the nurse hooks up an IV before his MRI or when I can't fix an ache or pain. That is why I have chosen to run with the NF marathon team. Instead of worrying about things I can't do, I'm choosing to concentrate on the things that I can. Our foster daughter Dorinda and Charlie Menard will also be running. Thank you for your time; raising awareness for NF is part of the battle, raising funds for research and a cure is the other.

They raised $1000! - The Dari-Isle Staff also donated their tips. Thank you Hannah, Jacki, Dana, Karen, Breanne, Jordon, Brandi and Courtney for generously raising $525.68! - Thanks to the UCT Council in Onanole for helping with Seth's Medical account. - Thank you AJ for helping sell wristbands at Sportman's Park in Onanole. - Thank you to the Neepawa Pool staff who supported Seth's cause by selling wristbands this summer. - Stephanie and Aaron did a great job planning a volleyball tournament here in Minnnedosa...they raised $105.00. Thanks, it was a great time! - The Minnedosa rotary Club also sent a cheque to the CTF on Seth's behalf. Thank you. - The Dalrymple family put together an amazing Haunted House and raised $262.68. - The Rotary Club / Minnedosa - Beta Sigma Phi / Minnedosa - Thank you also to Barry Dowsett who has organized a raffle to benefit Seth - Thank you to the Minnedosa Pharmacy and Staff for giving $450.
I would especially like to thank Charlie Menard for the time she has donated to this cause. She has designed a button with Seth's printing and footprint, she has given our family the opportunity to help spread awareness on NF and she has sold and distributed over 1000 buttons! You are truly a selfless person Charlie! Thank you so much for having such a wonderful celebration Charlie! Our generous community and your big heart have raised $2500!!!! WOW! Thank you! Thank you!
