"If you are going to win any battle, you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do... the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."-General George S. Patton
Here is the story behind my desire to run 26.2 miles in one of my favorite cities:
Last Christmas I picked up a copy of Trisha Meili's "I am the Central park Jogger." After reading the details of her struggle and perseverance to put her life back together, I was inspired to see if I had the endurance and willpower to battle through one of the greatest tests of endurance. If an individual can transform herself from being in a wheelchair to a determined athlete who is able to complete the New York City Marathon, then I can put down my martini and slowly train, mile by mile.
My personal goal of the marathon is to cross the finish line......in one piece.
There is an open invitation for all to come and watch me run/flail across the finish line November 2, 2008 in the Big Apple.
