Hi, my name is Shannon Bisel. I have been a police officer for the City of Merriam, Kansas, for almost eight years. While employed with the Police Department, I have had the opportunity to volunteer for numerous fundraising events to raise donations for Special Olympics Kansas. I have also participated in the Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) since June 2001. This is another event which raises funds to benefit Special Olympics. I will be participating in this year's Torch Run on June 2, 2009.
In addition to raising funds for the LETR, I also coordinate the annual "Popcorn Stand-Off" fundraiser. This year, it was held at the Cinemark Theaters, 5500 Antioch, on March 7, 2009. Law Enforcement Officers and other volunteers bagged popcorn behind the concession stand from 3pm to 8pm, and the theater donated the proceeds from the daily popcorn sales (all large and tub size) to Special Olympics. Last year we raised almost $2800 from this fundraiser alone. This year, we raised $2600!!
If you were unable to attend the Stand-Off, please consider donating any amount on this fundraising web-page to support me in my fundraising efforts. Donating here is simple, fast, and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make donations to Special Olympics Kansas, which is a nonprofit organization in the state of Kansas.
Please dig deep and donate on this fundraising webpage. Thank you and let me leave you with the words that make up the Special Olympics Oath, "LET ME WIN, BUT IF I CANNOT WIN, LET ME BE BRAVE IN THE ATTEMPT!”
