For 25 years, SHELTER, Inc. has been working to realize a vision: A Home For Everyone. Every day, one family at a time, SHELTER, Inc. helps people find and keep homes.
SHELTER, Inc. helped over 5,500 men, women and children in Contra Costa County last year; almost half of them were children. Our mission—to end and prevent homelessness by promoting self-sufficiency among low-income residents of Contra Costa County. Since 1986, SHELTER, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, has been meeting the housing needs of low-income families, whether facing eviction, struggling to get off the streets or in need of affordable housing. SHELTER, Inc. is highly successful— over 85% of those served maintain their housing and stay off the streets.
