SHELTER, Inc. of Contra Costa County presents the third annual Hike for SHELTER, a one-day hiking event that brings together neighbors, friends, families and local groups to take steps to end homelessness in our community.

On October 21, 2012, hikers of all ages and abilities will meet at Monte Vista High School for a short shuttle ride to the Macedo Ranch Staging Area in Alamo where our hikes in Mount Diablo State Park will begin.

Step 1--Register! Go to SHELTER, Inc.'s website for details about Hike for SHELTER and to register as a hiker:  http://shelterincofcccorg.presencehost.net/events/hike/. We'll provide you access to online fundraising and training tips to get you started.

Step 2--AFTER you register to hike, set up your personal fundraising page here. Click on "Fundraise" above and follow the step-by step instructions to create your account and then your fundtraising page. Feel free to use the sample letters provided in our online fundraising tips.

Step 3--Email your friends and neighbors (easy to do through FirstGiving) and watch what happens!

Step 4--If people would rather not donate online, but give you checks, don't forget to enter them as your "offline donations" in FirstGiving to keep your total raised up to date.
