On Monday, July 14th, 2008, I will be participating in the 9th Annual Megan Cooper Memorial Golf Outing benefiting Andy’s Chapter of Hope of the Leukemia Research Foundation (LRF). I have golfed and supported this charity for the past seven years, and this year I'm reaching out again for your help in raising money for leukemia research.  

I am looking to collect all donations by Friday July 4th.  So if you want to contribute to a very worthy cause - please follow the Give Now button.

Andy is a personal co-worker and friend of mine.  Here is a little more info as to why this chapter was started:

"Since Andy's Chapter of Hope began in October 1995, we have donated just over $850,000 toward leukemia Research and financial aid to leukemia patients and their families!! Thank you to everyone who has helped us in our mission. We look forward to your continued support.

How We Started: Until June of 1994, leukemia was a distant disease to Andy Hanson and his family. It was then that this 22 year old athlete was diagnosed and began fighting to conquer leukemia and continue his life's goals. When he was in remission, Andy decided he could help other leukemia victims by raising money for research and providing a support system for people affected by leukemia.

The end result is a McHenry County Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation (LRF) called Andy's Chapter of Hope. "

This is the second year we've been able to donate on-line and together we can support the LRF mission:

To conquer leukemia, lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes by funding research into their causes and cures, and to enrich the quality of life of those touched by these diseases.

The LRF has raised over $39 million the past 60 years to fund worldwide research, provide patient financial assistance, in addition to offering educational and emotional support to patients and their families. Today, researchers are so close to finding a cure, thanks in part to funding by the LRF. My goal is to raise a minimum $250.00. Let us work together on finding a cure!
