May 3rd-4th, Law Enforcement Officers will be relaying the Special Olympics torch from the sands of Sullivan’s Island to the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia; a 125 mile journey to announce the beginning of the 2012 Special Olympic Summer Games.

May 4th, officers will join forces for a 7.2 mile run from the Capital to Ft. Jackson where the torch will be carried into the Summer Games.

With this effort, we hope to raise awareness and donations for the Special Olympics. This represents Law Enforcement’s continued commitment to provide support for South Carolina’s approximately 21,000 Special Olympic athletes.
