Thank you for visiting the
Sole Sisters
fundraising page!
Our team is running The Relay ( http://www.therelay.com/re_new.htm ) for organ donation; a 199 mile running relay race from Calistoga to Santa Cruz, CA. This year's race is dedicated to a young boy, Shawn Stockwell, in need of a new heart. We hope with our efforts Shawn will recieve a new heart very soon! Donating through this website is simple, fast and completely secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our team, and most importantly Shawn!
Our team is very excited for the opportunity to give life while doing something we all love to do: run. Completing 199 miles is an ambitious and challenging endeavor, though it being so is what inspired us to compete in this race together. As a team we will be motivating and pushing each other through grueling physical tests, knowing that our suffering is insignificant compared to what children like Shawn and their families go through every day. We are sure we can run 199 miles, and with your donation, make a difference in someone’s life.
About our team: Though brought together by our enthusiasm for running, many members of the Sole Sisters are relatively new to the sport of distance running. We come from all over the country, but with a couple exceptions, most of us now live in California.
Amy, one of our running veterans, has completed an Ironman among her many other athletic achievements! Amy grew up in Chicago but lives in Salt Lake City where she practices her graduate studies in Neurobiology. Navery and Amy grew up together in Chicago, though Navery now lives in San Francisco where she is pursuing her music career. Navery and Donya recently completed their first marathons! Donya also lives and works in San Francisco, though she grew up down the coast in Aptos, CA with her sister Monica. Monica currently lives and works in Santa Cruz, CA, where she became a self-discovered triathlete this past summer after demolishing her first triathlon! Sarah and Monica grew up together as close friends in Santa Cruz, but Sarah is now living in Vallejo, CA pursuing medical school. Sarah came in 3rd place in a 5K she recently entered; needless to say a very strong runner! Andrea met Sarah, Monica and Polly working in Santa Cruz a couple years back. Alongside their friendship, Andrea’s running has continually developed, completing half marathons with hopes to double the distance soon. Polly is a modest but incredible triathlete; she completed her first Ironman last year!!! Lindsey, Andrea’s friend and family is another ‘Santa Cruzer’; a free-spirited, fast paced distance runner with half-marathon times in the 1:40’s! Lindsey now lives and works in Aptos though reigns from the Northeast- Ludlow, MA. Elyse , Kelley and Andrea grew up in Massachusetts too, together on Cape Cod. Elyse now lives in San Diego where she is pursuing a second degree in Graphic Design. Elyse is an all around athlete who has recently completed many distance races and hopes to continue ramping up the mileage. Kelley too is a very active woman, an energetic Oakland school Phys.Ed. teacher living in San Francisco. Flo attended college with Elyse, Kelley and Andrea on the east coast where they became close friends. Flo is a natural born athlete from Essex, Vermont though currently lives in Arizona where she is finishing up her masters in Chemistry. Maggie and Elyse also met in college- in Australia where they became great friends, and they now live together in San Diego. Maggie is a motivated and inspiring runner who will impart heart and soul necessary for the Sole Sisters success!
