Greetings,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On March 15, 2008, I was crowned Miss South Shore 2008. I will be competing for the title of Miss
Wisconsin , June 19-21, 2008 in
Oshkosh , WI, and then hopefully on to Miss America!
Each titleholder must have a platform. This was developed in order to make the titleholder a more relevant entity when appearing throughout her year of service. Since I was involved in the community prior to becoming a titleholder, I decided to continue my efforts naming my platform:
Give. Discover. Grow.
I am trying to make the Miss America National platform, Children’s Miracle Network, personal and relatable in my community. I plan to implement (Give) by stressing the importance of donations and by volunteer services for the UW American Family Children’s Hospital here in
Madison . (Discover) will play a part in educating the community about the state of the art research that is being done to improve children’s lives. (Grow), I am working hand and hand with Big Brother, Big Sister of Madison volunteering and helping children become and stay mentally strong, healthy and active.
A Bit about Myself:
I am a 2006 graduate of
Tennessee
State
University in Cell Biology and Chemistry. For four wonderful years, I was a member of the legendary Tigerbelle Women’s Track Team. With my determination, inner strength and support from teammates, I was able to represent
Tennessee
State
University by bringing home 7 medals in the 400m hurdles, 400m relay, and the 4x4 relay (5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze). I was also an active member of NAACP, student government and Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Society. Currently I am a graduate student at UW-Madison in Physiology working toward my PhD in neuroscience research. I am also a mentor with Big Brother, Big Sister of Madison.
If I am chosen to represent the state of
Wisconsin it will truly be history in the making as I will be the first African American Miss Wisconsin, Miss America. More importantly I have a passion for service and outreach in our community, and will be an asset to the state of
Wisconsin by displaying my enthusiasm, my positive character, my Christian believes and my leadership skills.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Any and all contributions are welcome and greatly appreciated.
Lastly I also need sponsors for the actucal Miss Wisconsin pageant June 19-21 :). Those contributions can be made payable to:
