Suicide Prevention Services of America (SPS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing and eliminating suicide and suicide attempts through education, advocacy, and collaboration.
A Call to Action
Chances are, suicide has touched you in some way. Someone in your family or someone you know has probably died from suicide or attempted suicide. The issues are serious. The impacts are real.
Suicide can be prevented. And the lives of those who have attempted suicide, or that have been hurt by the loss of a loved one to suicide, can be restored.
SPS is here to save lives and restore hope through prevention, intervention and postvention. We are one of only seven organizations in the United States devoted to this cause.
SPS is working to remove the stigma attached to suicide—to overcome the overwhelming sense of guilt, shame, fear and helplessness that prevents us from dealing with suicide in real, serious terms. The issues are serious, and the impacts on too many lives are all too real.
To effectively deal with the issues surrounding suicide, we must collaborate to bring a “front porch” mentality to the prevention of suicide and promote an open dialogue that will help those contemplating suicide and those that have been impacted by a loss from suicide.
