Hi guys! Its that time of year again, time to nag all my friends and relatives to donate to the Scleroderma Foundation's annual "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma!" This year's walk will take place in two different cities; June 7 on Long Island, or on June 28 in Highland Park, Illinois. The Collins ladies will be walking in Highland Park, and would love to see you all at any of these walks!
Last year we were amazingly blessed by all of your kind donations; because of your kind and generous donations we raised $2,100.00.
But the best donation we received this year was from a family we have never met, a family we never will meet. The best donation we have ever received was a pair of healthy new lungs for Susan/Mom! She gets stronger by the day and we are all so amazingly blessed and thankful for her continued progress.
BUT WE ARE THE LUCKY ONES. Ten years ago, they brushed mom aside and told her, "Sorry, we don't do transplants or people with Scleroderma." Years later and thanks to research funded in part by walks like this one, mom is doing well, and other people like mom are thriving with new therapies, procedures, medications, and yes, transplants(!). People like us, who donate what we can, show up when we can, and do what we can to help fund the research that helped people like our Susan get the surgery she needed.
Please, take a moment to donate to the Scleroderma Foundation. Even better, come on along with us on June 28 in Highland Park, Illinois, or June 7 on Wantagh, LI and walk with us and help us continue to fight for a cure for a disease that mom, along with thousands of other Americans, will continue to be afflicted with for the rest of our lives.
Thank you for all of your help!
