Our personal message:

Less than 3 days to go until my first Century ride!

I'm looking forward to tackling this distance and accomplishing this goal with my friend John.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Emmaus Inc.'s 2009 Cycle for Shelter. This is my 2nd year participating in this event and I have logged many miles at 5 a.m. at the gym and on the road in preparation for July 26th.

If you are unfamiliar with Emmaus Inc., please check out their website to see the wide range of services they provide to Massachusetts residents.

I am grateful to be employed, have a roof over my head, and to support a local organization that is helping others in my community.

I realize that this is a more challenging economic climate than last summer. Any amount that you are able to contribute will have an immediate positive impact on someone's life.
If you are unable to make a monetary contribution, then please consider participating in the 20, 50, 62 or 100 mile ride that day, or volunteering at the event. I'd love to see you in Haverhill on July 26th!

Special thanks to Joe for my shiny new Specialized Dolce Street  bike. He didn't think I could do the 100 miles on my 15 year old hybrid!

 Gratefully Yours,

Sunday July 5th update: Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me to date. I truly appreciate the support and would not be able to participate in this event without meeting the fundraising requirements. What an improvement over last Sunday's weather! The sun felt wonderful as Dave, Cat & I rode 52 miles on part of the Emmaus 62 mile loop. We celebrated our accomplishment by enjoying a Heineken and some pretzels on their roof deck. After this short break, I headed to Dracut to ride another 26 miles on a hilly course through Dracut and Pelham with Chopper. While I did feel tired after finishing 78 miles in one day, I do feel confident that I'll be able to complete the 100 miles in three weeks. Remember, if you aren't able to donate financially to this cause, it's not too late to volunteer your time to support the riders on July 26th.

Sunday June 28th update:

Thank you VERY much for the online donations, I appreciate the support for this event. John and I finished 70 miles today, not the 75 I was shooting for, but it was a great workout.

After leaving our ride cue sheets at home, we decided to continue on our venture towards North Andover and create an impromptu course. We encountered some lovely rain as we pedaled along Rt 125. After making it to Rt. 110 in Merrimac, we decided to turn around and after getting to the 40 mile mark, we stopped in  Historic downtown Haverhill at The Tap. We enjoyed a tasty microbrew and cheeseburger before hitting the road again. If you like locally brewed beer, you definitely have to visit The Tap on Washington Street, you won't regret it!

The plan for next Sunday is to finish at least 50 miles with my other training buddies, Dave & Cat. Here is hoping for a dry day!

Let me know if anyone is interested in joining us to ride 50 miles next Sunday, we are getting started at 9 a.m. in Haverhill.
