Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
This is my second year running this race. I did fairly well for a first-timer last year....ESPECIALLY for a first-timer who doesn't usually run! So this year I'm aiming to run the same hilly course faster than 28:43, which was my time last year. However, the main focus is on the funds raised to help the Humane Society in their mission. I do what I can as a volunteer, but not one of us can do it ALL. If everyone contributes a little, then together all that "little" will equal a LOT. We can all work toward giving homeless animals a better chance at leading a happy, healthy life.
Summer is coming and that's when there's a population BOOM at the shelter. Usually, this time of year (March) the shelter is half empty because we just came through the winter months. Then, in the Spring, the shelter begins filling up quickly once mating season is underway! Well, this year is different. The shelter is ALREADY full and has been all winter. People had to surrender their animals because they couldn't afford them anymore or lost their homes. I'm happy to report that the 9 cats surrendered by a woman on Christmas Eve because she was losing her home have all been adopted (of course, they didn't all go together). However, there are so many more pets within the shelter, waiting for a loving family. I'm predicting this year will be especially difficult due to the number of animals we will have. When Summer is here - where are we going to put them all? How are we going to feed them all? How will we get all that litter? All those toys? All those towels for them to sleep on? All that newspaper? All those medicines and treatments that they need? It's going to be a frightening, challenging year. Even though this web site is set up for monetary donations, only, the shelter will always accept (year-round): litter, old blankets, plastic food bowls, toys, etc. If you look on their web site, you'll find lists of what they need and I am ALWAYS happy to deliver them for you!!

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
