RAISE FUNDS TO SEND STUDENT VETERANS
TO THE 2011 SVA NATIONAL CONFERENCE
SVA is using firstgiving.com to help individual student veterans and
chapters raise funds to attend the 2011 National Conference.
Chapters and individual student veterans are encouraged to create a personal page or a chapter page and then ask friends, family, local businesses, schools, or other contacts to make a tax-deductible donation!
All funds will be used to send the individuals that raised the money to the 2011 National Conference in Las Vegas (see below for reimbursement details).
For those not attending the conference, you can also help by donating directly to SVA! All funds donated from today until December 8, 2011, will be used to bring student veterans to the 2011 National Conference.
This year’s conference theme is “Combating Veteran Unemployment.” It will feature a career fair with 100 companies and federal agencies, presentations from Google, Booz Allen Hamilton, BAE Systems, Rockwell Collins, Travelers Insurance, the Office of Personnel Management, Northrop Grumman, and more. This event will give student veterans a leg up when it comes time to look for an internship or a job!
For CHAPTERS and STUDENT VETERANS, here’s how it works:
- Select “Start Fundraising Now” on this page.
- Choose the “Use Your Imagination” option.
- Follow the prompts to create your own personal page. (I recommend keeping the name simple.)
- Edit your page and share your compelling story. Add a personal photo. Add a story. Ask for support to go to Las Vegas.
- Email your page to everyone that you think will be willing to help you attend the conference.
Details on how funds will be disbursed:
Donations will be disbursed to the chapter representative or individual that raised the funds after receipts are submitted to SVA. This is done to remain transparent to donors and ensure that funds are used for travel and lodging expenses for the 2011 SVA National Conference.
Any funds raised in excess of the amount it costs to send those particular individuals to the conference will be budgeted for 2012 SVA programs. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 866-320-3826 or at contact@studentveterans.org.
Thank you very much for your support of SVA!!
