Welcome to
TAILS Humane Society
Where good things happen everyday!
"As President of TAILS, I know how frugal this organization is and the financial challenges faced by TAILS," said Regina Harris. "TAILS receives NO government funding. Service fees (mainly from adoptions) account for only about 35% of our income and covers only a fraction of the cost of the care each animal receives. We rely on donations for 65% of our support---that's over $450,000 a year!"
Adoptions...
TAILS adopts about 1400 cats and kittens, dogs and puppies and little critters every year. The pets are healthy when they go to their loving Forever Homes. The felines and canines are all spayed or neutered, have up-to-date vaccinations, have had appropriate tests, have microchips for identification. Each comes with one-free month's worth of pet insurance and a free veterinary visit.
...And so much more!
TAILS provides:
Low-cost Spay/Neuter services to low-income pet owners through TAILS Veterinary Clinic.
HomeBuddies provides food, supplies and free veterinary care to homebound pet owners receiving Meals-on-Wheels.
Catalyst Program mentors at-risk youth in a shelter setting.
Humane Investigators respond to over 100 animal abuse and neglect complaints each year. The Guardian Angel Program goes above and beyond to care for ill, abused, and neglected animals in need. Some require several hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of vet care.
Safe Pets Program provides free boarding to the pets of domestic violence victims to allow them to leave their abuser without fearing for the safety of their pet.
Carriers without Barriers allows TAILS to rescue hundreds of puppies from overcrowded shelters and gives them a second chance here in DeKalb County.
TAILS also offers Dog Obedience Classes, Volunteer Opportunities, Wildlife Rehabilitation Services and much more!
