Rochelle hoarding anniversary
This year's event will be very special - it's the one year anniversary of the Rochelle hoarding case where 310 dogs, cats and birds were rescued from horrible conditions in a rural residence south of Rochelle. We've invited the adopters and their dogs as well as all the volunteers who helped us clean, walk and provide medical care to all of the rescued animals. We're expecting lots of wonderful reunions!
Here are just a few of the exciting activities we've got planned:
- Fun-with-your-dog contests will include Best Dressed Pet, Pet/parent Lookalike, Happiest, Smallest, Biggest, Fluffiest Dog and many more!
- Pet reunions
- King and Queen crowning ceremony
- Great food
- Kissing booth (lots of puppy kisses waiting for YOU!)
- Best human and dog costume contest
- Great shopping so you can pamper your pet
At around noon, we'll move to the corner of Loves Rd. and Cortland Center Road where, at 1:00, we'll have the honor of kicking off the Cortland Parade! We'll provide transportation from the Fire Department to the beginning of the parade - all you need to do is come and have fun! The Cortland Parade is one of the few remaining in the area where candy can be thrown to spectators so be sure and bring some along!
Don't have a dog? No problem!
If you're a cat fancier or if the small and furry are more your style we invite you to come on out and celebrate your pet with us! Your pet will be happier (and safer) at home but we still want YOU to come! Why not have a t-shirt made that proudly displays your pet's photo or walk with a sign bearing your pet's picture? The possibilities are endless! The most creatively represented pet wins a prize!
