About TAILS Humane Society
TAILS provides care for 2,600 pets and 400 wild animals each year. In addition, we also offer a variety of free and low-cost community services designed to nurture the human-animal bond. These include:
- Low-cost spay/neuter clinic - our staff veterinarian spays or neuters 1,300 dogs and cats owned by members of the public at rates much lower than those charged by private practice veterinarians.
- Pet Training Classes - our certified trainers offer training classes for dogs and puppies of all ages and skill levels.
- Catalyst Program - at-risk teens and pre-teens are provided supervised opportunities to learn about compassion through animal care.
- HomeBuddies Program - in partnership with Meals on Wheels, TAILS provides free pet food and veterinary care for Meals on Wheels clients who own pets.
- Pawsitive TAILS Animal Assisted Activities Program - certified animal/handler teams make scheduled visits to clients of human service organizations throughout DeKalb County with the goal of improving emotional wellbeing.
- Safe Pets Program - in partnership with our local domestic violence center, TAILS provides free boarding to the pets of domestic violence victims so they can leave their abuser without fearing for the safety of their pets.
