Hey there everyone.
As you may or may not know, I have been running shelter dogs on Saturday mornings with a group of amazing people. We are PACK
(People & Animal Cardio Klub), maybe you heard of us in the Express or Washington Post? We are a group of volunteers who regularly meet at local parks to run with adoptable shelter dogs in order to provide outdoor recreation while they wait for their forever homes.
The PACK program has really opened my eyes to understanding more about the WHS (Washington Humane Society). Did you know that the WHS cares for approximately 20,000 animals each year, but is more than just an animal shelter. With programs that enforce laws that protect animals against cruelty and neglect, a humane education program that reaches out to inner-city youth teaching compassion for all living beings, a low-cost dog and cat sterilization and vaccination clinic to help those with lower incomes afford proper care for their pets, a neighborhood feral cat partnership program (CatNiPP) that traps, sterilizes, and returns cats to managed colonies throughout the District, the Washington Humane Society partners with the community to bring about awareness to the pet over-population crisis and shares knowledge on the proper care & treatment of all animals.
With all of this in mind, I have decided to join my PACK members at the Marine Corps Marathon 10k on October 25, 2009, in order to raise money for the WHS. We will be strapping on our shoes and running for our furry friends. My goal is to raise $2,000 by September 30, 2009. Any and every donation is helpful and greatly appreciated!!!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Thank you so much for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
