My personal message:

We're participating in the Mongol Charity Rally summer of 2009! We'll be driving from London to Mongolia over the course of a month. As part of that journey, we are trying to raise money for a few good causes. You can help us raise some money for Save the Children in Mongolia.

Thanks for taking the time to check out our page.

-Chris and Randy

Update: July 16th, 2009
A huge "Thank you!" to all the people who've helped us reach our fundraising goal for Save the Children! We appreciate your interest in what we're doing, your support, and especially your charity.

Now the really fun part. Randall is over in England right now squaring things away with the Jeep. For more on that, check our blog(s). Julia and I are packed and ready to roll (for those of you who didn't know, Julia will be with us for the first week of the rally). We're on the plane in T minus 5 days. This thing has some legs now, and a lot of work and preparation is becoming a realized adventure.

Keep up with us at:

Thanks again for your contributions to a worthy organization! Make charity fun and people will give.

Update: June 10th, 2009
Randall and I have just come down from a successful Denali climb! We're enjoying some downtime at Anchorage International and taking care of some business that's accumulated over the past few weeks. We're just about set now for visas, and it sounds like the Jeep preparations are coming along nicely (Big thanks to Dave with that!) This thing is starting to gain some momentum!

Similarly, the Save the Children fundraising has been gaining some steam. "Thank you" to everyone who has donated so far! If you haven't yet, there's still time. Help us reach our goal, we're nearly there.

Thanks for all the support!

Chris

Update: May 8th, 2009
We have a vehicle! Randy's also just put the finishing touches on an awesome website (where you can see pictures of the Jeep). Check the team page out:
www.randalltate.com/rally
We also have a page on the Charity Rallies website:
www.charityrallies.org/thelostcrusade

If you haven't donated yet, get on it! We have about $1025 left to raise for Save the Children before we kick this thing off.

Update: April 7th, 2009
Randy's back from South America and school is wrapping up for Chris. We're about to boot the planning and logistics into high-gear and get this project moving!

We've heard that from many of you that you're planning on chipping in with our Save the Children fundraising. We appreciate the support in raising money for this great cause. Why do we think its a worthy organization? For these reasons:

  • Save the Children's mission is to protect children from harm, promote education, improve healthcare, and help kids transition from school to workforce.
  • Save the Children is a reputable non-profit that ranks high among other non-profits.
  • 92% of their budget goes towards programs! (4% goes to management and 4% goes towards fundraising).
  • It's all about the kids!

These are just a few reasons to support this organization. Take 5 minutes, donate a little or a lot, and know that you're doing something good!

Update: March 8th, 2009
We're still plugging along with the rally preparation. It's slow going right now with Randy on assignment in South America and Chris busy with PA school.

The economy is in terrible shape here in the US presently, but just think about how its affecting the rest of the world! This is truly a "global recession." What better time than now to think about the less fortunate around the world. We believe that Save the Children is doing a great job of bringing healthcare and education to the kids of mongolia, and we support them. If you'd like to support them too, then pitch in with whatever you can!
