Haiti Soccer For Development (HS4D): The Dream Field!
SUMMARY:
Identifying issues, problems, and Challenges:
More than 2000 young boys and girls, displaced by the January 12, 2010 earthquake, are living in the Lebrun Village and its surrounding communities with no paying jobs, activities or programs. The increasing school dropout rates and the lack of resources, teachers, and positive role models all have a negative impact on the standard of education and lifestyle.
- build 1 safe soccer field in the village of Lebrun,
- equip 250 youths in Haiti with soccer gear,
- promote a healthy lifestyle,
- provide peer-to-peer training,
- foster youth empowerment,
- award a monthly stipend to 8 local Haitian soccer coaches ($150 each per month),
- enable young Haitians to become responsible citizens with ongoing character education training.
Solutions:
The HS4D program is working to provide a platform where youth (boys & girls) will benefit from having a safe, dependable and designated community space where they can participate in healthy activities and Sport for Development programs. Your generous contribution will provide 1 safe soccer field, gear and equipment, mentoring to children and youth and training/education in life skills and healthy lifestyle while focusing on school attendance and performance.
Potential Long Term Impact:
HS4D will provide trained local coaches who will work with each family to monitor the children’s progress in the 5 elementary schools and in the HS4D soccer program. The program will benefit the whole village by reducing school dropouts and youth violence while promoting community cohesion, healthy lifestyle and teamwork. Your generous donation and time will provide a comprehensive network of support that offers education and soccer training to more than 250 children in a community of more than 19,000 people.
Project Message:
"My volunteer experience with the children in the Lebrun village has been outstanding. My wife and I look forward to continuing our involvement to make a difference in children’s lives!" --- Gustava Alencar , CEO of Joga Bonito Brazilian Soccer Academy.
