Welcome 2010 Team Hoyt Boston Marathon team members:
We look forward to the next several months of training and then meeting in Boston for the 114th running of the Boston Marathon.
Below, you will find easy instructions on creating your personal online fundraising page. If you find that some people are uncomfortable making a credit card donation, please feel free to accept checks or cash (off-line donations). Checks can be made payable to the Hoyt Foundation, Inc., an IRS 501(c)(3) charity. Send checks to 241 Mashapaug Road, Holland, Massachusetts 01521, attention Kathy Boyer. Please do not send cash.
You can edit your online fundraising page periodically to include your off-line donations. This way, your off-line donations will be added to your fundraising total. This is a very important step to ensure that you get credit for all your off-line donations. Often times, runners update the text of their site to acknowledge off-line donors, e.g., "A special thanks to my off-line donors Johnny Kelly ($100), Robert Cheriyot ($50)," etc.
It only takes a few minutes to create your online fundraising page, and it will help you reach more people and raise more money. Once created, just email your page out to all your friends, coworkers, family, and neighbors for support!
GETTING STARTED:
- To start creating your page, click the "Get Started" button above.
- Personalize the text and the photo on your Online Fundraising Page to express your passions and your purpose. Runners usually upload a photograph of themselves or the Hoyts. The most effective fundraising pages have a detailed description about why you are doing this event with details about Team Hoyt which can be found at www.teamhoyt.com.
- Send an e-mail message with your link to friends, family and colleagues. The most successful fundraisers send their link individually to potential sponsors as opposed to block or group e-mails with boilerplate messages.
Good luck and get started!
