Miles for Merlin is a group of 13 friends who have got together and pledged to raise $25,000 for Merlin.
Merlin is a charity that provides healthcare services in some of the poorest and most conflict ridden countries in the world such as Zimbabwe, Gaza, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Nepal, Liberia, Pakistan and the list goes on. If there's an emergency, Merlin are there within hours, offering medical relief. Once the emergency is over, Merlin are unique in that they stay behind, often for years, to help to rebuild the healthcare system in the affected country. In fact, when there's a crisis, Merlin are known for being first in and last out. Find out more about Merlin at www.merlin-usa.org.
All 13 of us are parents and are particularly moved by Merlin's amazing commitment to improving maternal health and reducing infant mortality in places where both are at crisis levels.
With that in mind, we're going to be running in Washington on October 25th. 4 of us (Ingrid, Rachel, Katie and Esther) are running the full Marine Corps Marathon and 9 of us (Sophie, Jane, Helen, Viv, Sally, Susan, Steve, Karen and Peter) will be running the Marine Corps 10k. We're also planning several other fun and fundraising activities around Greenwich in the next few months.
This page has been set up for those people who would like to donate to the team as a whole. Since 12 of us live in Greenwich we're worried that some poor souls will be bombarded by all 12 of us asking for sponsorship! If that's the case we do apologize and hope that this page may be a refuge for you!
With thanks from all of us,
The Miles for Merlin team.
