Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!This cause is especially dear to our hearts. Tizita & Fekadu have been home with us for just over one year. Before that, they and their birth family had to walk and carry water every day to fulfill their most basic needs. It is hard work that kept the children out of school and kept their birth mother from being able to do other things that might have improved their situation and kept their family together. It may even have contributed to the illness that claimed their birth father's life.
Right now, there are about one BILLION people on earth facing this same grinding daily chore, only to end up with a jug of dirty, diseased water. I have seen first hand the life changes that follow when clean water and sanitary latrines arrive in an Ethiopian village. We can help bring that new life to others who are waiting.
On May 31, I will carry a 5-gallon jerry can full of water for a symbolic 5k walk to honor the hundreds of millions of others around the world who must do the same every day, twice a day, to enable their very survival. You can help.
Your $10 will help someone know they are not alone with their challenges.Your $50 will ensure safe water for one child for his/her entire life.Your $100 will cover the salary of a health and sanitation educator for two months.Your $250 will pay a construction technician for five months.Your $500 will provide 500 feet of PVC pipe for a water system serving hundreds.Your $1000 will drill a deep well and install a hand pump to serve hundreds.A gift of any amount is welcome and much appreciated.
