WOD for Warriors: OPERATION VIGILANCE 2012
"The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance" - Abraham Lincoln
Who is it who pays this price?
WOD for Warriors presents our fall campaign - Operation Vigilance.
Starting with Operation Vigilance, our September 11th memorial climb, we honor the first responders to the WTC attacks, from the FDNY and NYPD, to the troops who immediately took the fight to the enemy, and have been fighting them ever since.
We end our campaign as we celebrate Veteran's Day by honoring the steadfastness with which our Military have stood between us and those that would do us harm for the last 236 years. The common bond between every Veteran is the oath they swear to "...Support and defend the constitution of the United States...", an oath whose cost is the very price of which we speak. Its a price paid in missed birthdays, weddings, soccer games, family dinners. In weeks missed in training, and years missed in combat.
How do these events make a difference? We all want to thank these men and women. We say "thank you for your service", and wonder how it was recieved. What we at WOD for Warriros, and Team RWB want to do, is knock down that barrier that makes us stop there, and try to really understand what's happening. Let's get a community in a gym, climb a rope 200 times, and talk about what it is like to be a part of those "Eternally Vigilant". We want to create shared experiences, and focused opportunities, to start these conversations, and believe that the restorative potential is limited only by the authenticity and risk tolerance of the participants.
We hope you'll join us in our efforts!
