- If you are joining us in Atlanta, choose the Georgia Marathon event. Click on FUNDRAISE on the next page.
- If you are participating in a different event, choose SPORTING in the drop down menu and click SELECT.
- If you are choosing your own event, enter the name, the type of event, and the date.
- Create your account with Firstgiving
- Personalize the text and the photo on your Online Fundraising Page to express your purpose
- Share about the event you are participating in.
- Send the link to your friends, family, colleagues - anyone you think will help you reach your goal.

At the 2011 Georgia Marathon, Team SP members raised money and awareness of the need for clean water in the Kihuura region of Western Uganda - an area with desperate poverty and where only 19% of the population has access to safe water. Providing clean water, coupled with heath and hygiene education, is perhaps the most preventative measure we can take in keeping our world from infectious disease. Every day, 6,000 people around the world—most of them children—die from dirty water. It's a staggering statistic when we consider how vital clean water is to our daily existence.
In 2012, Team Samaritan's Purse will again be participating in the Georgia Marathon/Half Marathon on March 18. Participants in the 2012 event will be raising money for clean water in South Sudan. Please consider joining us at this great event as we work to provide safe water and break the cycle of poverty to this area of the world. We are setting a goal of $100,000 for this event. With 100 runners each raising $1,000, we believe this is possible. Will you be part of the 100?
As our teams work in crisis areas of the world, people often ask, "Why did you come?" The answer is always the same: "We have come to help you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ." Our ministry is all about Jesus--first, last, and always. As the Apostle Paul said, "For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake"(2 Corinthians 4:5, NIV).
For those unable to join us in Atlanta, consider participating in an event closer to you. You can choose a running, cycling, swimming or triathlon event. Whatever your athletic passion is - do it with purpose. You can choose the Samaritan's Purse ministry project that you feel God is laying on your heart. If you choose water - we'll add the funds you raise to the total raised through the Georgia Marathon event.
