Welcome to The Food Pantries
(Food Pantries for the Capital District) fundraising page of FirstGiving!
Why have we partnered with FirstGiving?
"They help ordinary people raise extraordinary amounts of money for causes they care about. FirstGiving is dedicated to one purpose: empowering passionate nonprofit supporters to raise more money than they ever thought possible for the causes they care about. They are helping us to plan, execute, and measure successful online fundraising campaigns, fundraising events." (FirstGiving)
Current Events on FirstGiving
- CANstruction
CANstruction is a design build competition that gathers canned food donations for community food pantries. Teams from the built industry design and create structures made completely out of canned goods. You will compete alongside other teams from your industry. After the structures are exhibited at a public event and awards are won, the cans are donated to families in need through the Food Pantries of the Capital Region.
- Larry's 50k for Food
This is an initiative to help support The Food Pantries. Larry is helping us inspire change in our communities through our food pantries by kicking off our “Healthy Pantries for Healthy Communities” initiative. Larry would like us to join him in achieving his lifetime goal of running 50K miles, by helping us raise $50,000!
Established in 1979, The Food Pantries (Food Pantries for the Capital District), is a COALITION of food pantries, working together to feed the hungry!
Pantries provide groceries and basic everyday items to ANYONE in need. This includes Seniors, Children, and Families in Capital District.
In 2010 our organization delivered over 900 tons of food to member food pantries, who in turn provided supplies for more than 2.3 million meals. Our deliveries of food to pantries have increased by 100 tons of per year since the Food Express program started in 2000! Over 50,000 people just in Albany and Rensselaer Counties per year! Everyone in one way or another experiences difficulties in their lives! We help them through our member food pantries because letting our neighbors go hungry is not the American way. Help us locally feed the hungry!
