Dustin and I are indescribably grateful for the support, encouragement, education and source of resources that the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond (DSAGR) has been during these past 18 months as we journeyed into the Land(on) of the unknown to find it was actually the Land(on) of tremendous possAbilities. 

The DSAGR hosts an educational meeting once a month to give families an opportunity to learn information to enhance the lives of their loved one, provides avenues for families to connect and share experiences, offers additional educational and social opportunities and grants those with Down syndrome the opportunity to participate in enrichment programs they otherwise may not be able to do.   The DSAGR also provides a comprehensive packet of information for new parents as well as a support system for new parents, or parents new to the area. 

We want each family in the future to have available to them what was available to us, and more.  With your help, we can help the DSAGR show that folks with Down syndrome are valuable contributing members of society, revered by those who know them.

The Buddy Walk was established by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to promote acceptance, awareness and inclusion of people with Down syndrome (DS) and to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. It has evolved into the single largest awareness vehicle for DS worldwide. Approximately 250,000 people participated in over 275 walks in 2008!

Join us for a family-friendly, fun-filled day at the Richmond Raceway Complex (Shine: Racetrack; Rain: Old Dominion Building) on Saturday, October 10, 2009 (11AM-3PM), to include:

• Live music & entertainment
• Children's activities
• Food 
• Vendor & Sponsor Displays 
• Down syndrome advocacy organizations 
• RIR pace car rides
• 3/4 mile walk around the racetrack!
