Mission:
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. The Foundation believes that the fulfillment of a wish creates a magical moment for children, families, and everyone involved in a wish. Therefore, it is the Foundation's vision that people everywhere will share the power of a wish.

Thank you for visiting my Walk for Wishes 2009 fundraising page!
A few years ago both Tara and I were regular volunteers for the Vermont chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation. We assisted with events and were trained on how to be wish granters. I was even able to be one of two wish granters for a local Fairfax girl's wish to go on a cruise with her family and swim with dolphins.
Unfortunately with two little ones running around the house, I have let my participation with the Make-a-Wish Foundation lapse, but when I received their mailing about the annual Walk for Wishes event I was inspired to participate in this event for the first time. Anyone that knows me could tell you that I could certainly benefit personally from two 10-mile walks through Burlington. I am really excited to have this planned exercise on my calendar for September.
Now comes the challenging part; raising money for this great organization. Both Tara and I really love what the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Vermont does for children in our state with life-threatening illnesses. I know from my personal experience as a wish granter the level of effort and amount of money it takes to fulfill a child's wish. I also know how unbelievably happy and grateful these children and their families are when their very personalized once in a lifetime wish has been granted.
I would be extremely grateful for your donation of any amount and I am really excited about the opportunity to participate in this unique two-day event.
