Miles for Medals 2012
Miles for Medals is an event created by the James Madison University (Mu Chi) and University of Richmond (Rho Chi) chapters of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics. This year's event will occur on October 18th & 19th, 2012.
The Rho Chi runners will begin at U of R and end in Louisa County on Thursday, October 18th, covering a distance of 49 miles. Mu Chi will take over the following morning, running 68 miles from Louisa to JMU, finishing at the Greek-life celebration. The entire run will be police-escorted. On game day, there will be a ceremonial walk from the FIJI house to the stadium where the game ball will be presented to the referees at the 21:00 minute mark. During the game, between quarters, representatives from FIJI, ASA, and Special Olympics Virginia will be recognized on the field for a presentation of the check for all funds raised. Although organized by Fiji and ASA, the run is open to all fraternities, sororities and student organizations.
Questions about the run or the Greek-life celebration can be directed to Fiji President, Jake Ronza (jronza@gmail.com).
