Hello!
Learning that Mickey McDonald Welker lost her battle against brain cancer, it became clear to me that my approach to my own survival needed to change.
There is not enough research dedicated to this disease, and I want to make a difference.
When I was 14, I was diagnosed with brain cancer, and became legally blind. Each of us, in the course of our lives, have a choice. I thought my fighting back, my refusal to let brain cancer steer me clear of horses, was my lesson. The fact that Mickey, my friend since college, did not survive, gave me a new goal.
At the U.S. International Hunter Derby, I hope to raise $30,000 for the National Brain Tumor Foundation. These dollars will to go research, truly needed in fiding a way to help people fight back. The course takes place on June 14 at the Lexington Horse Show, and I hope you will help me.
Mickey also loved horses, and I know this would touch her heart , as well. It is important to know what matters to us, to nurture it and go for it! It is time to reach out and help - through our passions - others who need it.
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. If you are not comfortable with an online donation, please send a check to me, made out to the National Brain Tumor Foundation, and I will forward it for you!
