As you probably know, our son, Connor, was diagnosed with Autism a year and a half ago. He’s not alone. Current statistics indicate that one in every 166 children has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Unfortunately, what causes Autism is still a mystery to the medical community.
In 2004, I discovered the Towpath Trail and in 2005, we made our first Cleveland to New Philadelphia bike ride on current and future sections of the trail. It was such a sucess that we decided to do it every year and raise money for charity while we're at it. So this year, we’re making the 100 mile journey to raise money for the Organization for Autism Research and to create awareness of this mysterious disease that affects so many children and adults. The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is the only autism organization which focuses solely on applied research. Its mission is to apply research to the challenges of autism. In simplest terms, applied autism research is “practical research that examines issues and challenges that children and adults with autism and their families face everyday.” OAR depends upon public donations to continue its mission. Please consider sponsoring my Ride for Autism by making a donation to this worthwhile organization. I have set a goal of $2000 which will provide 2 research grants to graduate students studying autism. Connor and the many individuals around the world living with autism thank you for your support.
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast, and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
