My personal message:
Despite bad knees and shoulders, I've decided to participate in the Lonestar Triathlon in Galveston, TX on March 31, 2007 alongside a friend.  Some would argue that I've now finally gone insane for wanting to put my body through something like this, but I believe I can answer why...

I will never forget the phone call.  That was the day things in my family would change.  Timothy, my amazing nephew, had been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and his life was now hinging on a miracle.  I will also not soon forget the lengthy road trip discussion with my brother when the "why" question arose.  As we realized that we are not guaranteed anything in this life except for grace and salvation, he was solidifying a new mission.  That mission has been to find a cure for Duchenne MD by doing everything he can to raise money for research.  Now I've caught that bug.  Everytime I look into Timothy's big bright blue eyes and a smile or laugh errupts, the most incomprehensible joy overwhelms me.  He gives me sunshine.  This is life - to know the value of a second, a minute, a day, a few years and treat these moments as if they are golden.  God gave me legs that function and lungs that breathe, so I'm putting them to use in hopes that one day Timothy and boys like him will be able to use theirs.

Please consider making a donation to support Cure Duchenne's mission of eliminating this debilitating disease and giving life back to the boys it has affected.

God Bless!

3-25-07:  Less than a week to go and I am so incredibly thankful for everyone who has made a donation.  To be honest, in the beginning I wasn't sure I'd make it to $1,000.  That thought has since been blown out of the water.  With all of this help maybe one day I'll be able to see Timothy play soccer or baseball or even run a marathon.  May God bless you all!!
