The Cactus Challenge IV scheduled for April 20th has been cancelled. We will now be competing in "The Rookie" on May 10th.

In April of 1986, my Dad suffered a stroke while training for the triathlon. He was swimming at the time. It should go without saying...but my Dad never competed in the triathlon.

About a year ago (February 2007), I began to feel compelled to “pick up the torch” and finish the race, so-to-speak. In July of 2007, I made the decision to pursue the triathlon, and I have been training ever since. At first, the only intention behind this pursuit was to finish the race - a symbolic achievement for me. However, I have since appropriated an idea from my good friend and associate, Mr. Jeff Schmülen, and have decided to attempt to raise charitable monies through my efforts.

On May 10th of this year, I will make my triathlon début by competing in the Texas Tri Series Race #1 - "The Rookie" Sprint Distance Triathlon. Originally, I had only planned on competing in a single race. But as I become more immersed in this culture, the triathlon has become part of my daily life, and at this point I plan on my involvement being continuous.

I am also happy to report that I will have some good friends at my side during this first race. These exceptional, unique, strong, extra-ordinary, remarkable people comprise Team Glutes Engage. They have served as fantastic pillars of support through my process so far, and I could not be happier that they are on board. Though my triathlon début will be in May, from the inception of this venture I have always felt that it would be meaningful to return to my hometown of Lake Jackson, Texas to compete. As a result, Team Glutes Engage will be competing in the Brazosport Relay Triathlon on September 6th, 2008.

Tri Ledlie and Team Glutes Engage has set the explicit goal of raising a total of $5,000 between donations to the National Stroke Association, based in Englewood, Colorado, and the Brain Injury Association of Texas, based in Austin. It would be beyond ausgezeichnet (excellent), however, if we managed to raise $5,000 per organization. Any help that you could offer towards achieving this goal would be profoundly appreciated.

Personally, and on behalf of the entire team, thank you for taking the time to hear my story and observe our cause.

Sincerely,

Jason R. Ledlie
