Dear Friends of John and Fred,

Summer has waned; September come and going, and the annual “Autumn Escape to the Cape” fund-raising effort is really late this year.  Next weekend Team Alpha will again join with other teams and riders in raising awareness and funds for programs and research.  The American Lung   Association  of  Massachusetts has permitted  us to use this event as a fundraiser for the Alpha-1 Foundation; last year Team Alpha-1 raised over $20,000!           

We are particularly motivated this year with the recent passing of our father, John W III in early September.  He was our mentor, coach, and friend for so long and we will miss him terribly.  He loved coming to the Bike Treks.  Even with his lack of navigating skills, he volunteered as a support driver until we finally took his keys away.  He lived life to its fullest and touched many during his 94 year journey.The Coach had become an ardent advocate and passionate ambassador for Alpha-1, the genetic condition that led to his wife's early demise and has also impacted the health of his children.

For all those that supported our efforts last year, a much belated thank you.  For those who didn’t, here’s another chance. No amount is too small. All proceeds will go to the Alpha-1 Foundation for funding research to find a cure.
