Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Special Olympics Virginia!
As most of you know, I have begun training for my first season of competition in Triathlons. My goal is to increase from the Olympic/Standard distances this year (1 mile Swim, 26 mile Bike, and 6 mile Run), to the Half-Ironman distance next year, and ultimately to competing in and finishing the Ironman race in Kona, HI (2.4 mile Swim, 100 mile Bike, and 26 mile Run) in 2010.
I figured since I was spending all these hours training, why not also contribute to a worthy cause. C. Vivian Stringer, renowned coach of the Rutgers Women's Basketball team has been quoted as saying that, "Sports are a celebration of life." I believe that everyone should have opportunities to play and to celebrate and now you have a chance to help provide those opportunities without swimming, biking, or even running a single mile. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. My first race, the Virginia Run Sprint Triathlon, is on May 11th (I will be competing in races in July and Sept. as well). This website will accept donations until July 11th.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Best,
Tyronne
P.S. Stay tuned for updates on my training and my progress on the Road to Kona!
