Because it has the freedom and flexibility to respond quickly to emerging areas of scientific promise, amfAR plays a catalytic role in accelerating the pace of HIV/AIDS research and achieving real breakthroughs. amfAR-funded research has increased our understanding of HIV and has helped lay the groundwork for major advances in the study and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
One of the earliest advocates for people with HIV/AIDS, amfAR has galvanized national leadership on AIDS and was instrumental in securing key U.S. legislation advancing access to treatment and care and strengthening research efforts.
Funded by voluntary contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations, amfAR has invested more than $233 million in its mission since 1985 and has funded grants to more than 2,000 research teams worldwide.

At UndiesDrawer, we believe in more than just underwear. We want to do the right thing as well. We have lots of visitors to UndiesDrawer, and it would be a waste of those human resources if we didn't encourage you to step in and help a good cause. Although the UndiesDrawer readership includes both gay and straight, we have a significant connection to the gay community through the high volume of gay readers who visit our site, so we've decided to support the efforst of amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Reseach, and hope you will, too.
AIDS is a global problem, and no one who pays attention to the world around us can deny that. Men, women and children every day suffer from the effects of HIV and AIDS, and it's still as fatal as it always was.
