Thanks for visiting my page :)
I pledge to shoot 200 free throws.
Along with thousands of other participants including those of us at USF, I've made a commitment to participate in a Hoops of Hope, a free throw shooting marathon. I'm doing this to help children who have been orphaned by HIV and AIDS.
This year, we are bringing the first ever Hoops of Hope event to USF. What better way to kick off than the fact that Austin himself is coming to speak at our event on November 6th, 2008. Austin and Hoops of Hope have decided to generously give a percentage of the money raised at the USF HOH event to local HIV/AIDS organizations in Hillsborough County.
By my participation this year, I will be helping to raise money for a second medical lab and counseling center in Zambia. These laboratories provide quick and effective HIV/AIDS testing, allowing those who are ill to quickly begin drug therapy and other treatments. This helps prolong the lives of moms and dads and helps keep children from becoming orphans.
Across the world over 5,700 children every day are losing one or both parents to HIV and AIDS. I can't possibly help them all, but if each of us help a little, we can make a big difference!
Will you support me by making a tax deductible donation on my webpage? Donating on this webpage is simple and totally secure. If you would like more information about Hoops of Hope, you can go to www.hoopsofhope.org. If you would also like to join the free throw shooting marathon at USF, you can visit www.firstgiving.com/hoopsofhope2008 to create a page just like the one you are reading! The event is on November 6th, 2008 from 4pm to 10pm at the USF Recreation Center. I hope that the community takes an intersest and we see many of you there! :) If you have any questions, feel free to email me at usfsgac@yahoo.com
