Bike for Life 2011
Be part of this fun flat ride through the quiet neighborhoods of Salt Lake and then along the south end of the Salt Lake International Airport (the gates will be open!!), and then out to Saltair and the Great Salt Lake Marina. This is the perfect ride to wrap up the season. The out and back route is flat with little traffic. Fifty and twenty five mile options. Bring your family on this fun, fully supported ride and help us raise money for the Utah AIDS Foundation!
Check in for the ride begins at 7 AM on September 17. The The Bike For Life starts at 8:00 AM at Liberty Park and ends at the 9th & 9th Street Fair (two blocks from Liberty Park).
Distances - The Bike For Life allows riders to enjoy 2 different distance for riding: A half century (50 miles) or a Quarter Century (25 miles). The route is flat and mostly follows Salt Lake City Bike Lanes and residential streets. Traffic should be very light. The ride is fully supported with sag wagons and rest stops at approximately 12 and 25 miles.
Safety - All riders must be aware of and observe the traffic laws of the state of Utah. The road ways along the course of this event are mostly residential and rural roads but are not closed. Be prepared to share the road with vehicular traffic. The route also runs through the golf course at the Salt Lake International Airport so you will have to share part of the route with golf carts. Use proper hand signals for all turns and stops, for the safety of drivers and your fellow riders. All riders are required to wear a helmet, and to ride single file, except for passing. The rest stops and support will close by 1:30 pm
