It was 15 years ago that three mothers decided to try to get all the VHL families together, to see what we could learn by sharing experiences with one another and support one another through this experience: Joyce Graff, Peggy Graham, and Susan Warnick.

We were quickly joined by Lois Erickson, who found us through an article in Reader's Digest where Joyce was quoted for her work on building a Family Health Tree.  One by one, other families, in many countries, found us and joined us. 

We approached doctors who had published articles about VHL. They very kindly agreed to work with us and help us learn: Lt. Col. J. Michael Lamiell, who had launched a VHL study project in Hawaii in 1977, was the first on board. 

We have learned more in 15 years than we had ever hoped to learn!  And through the generosity of members and friends, we have awarded more than A MILLION DOLLARS in research grants!
