Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

Put yourself in her shoes...literally! Join our first annual Walk a Mile for WAVI, an event designed by Frank Baird and Venture Humanity to bring men into the fold in the efforts to end domestic and sexual violence. Walkers raise pledges (or have them raised on their behalf) and on May 19th will put on bright red high heels and their best smile to walk around Memorial Pond. Prizes will be awarded for Most Confidence, Best Strut, and Walk-Offs.Walking (and falling!) lessons will be provided--with music!

The minimum to raise to receive a t-shirt is $25. Our goal for this event is $250 for each participant. It might sound intimidating at first, but remember: heels ain't for the faint of heart! Make your walk worth it--here's how:

Give to your own pledge fund with $25 (for your t-shirt!)

Ask 4 family members (spouse, mom, dad, siblings, aunts & uncles, etc) for $25 each.

Send an email to your coworkers asking for just $10, link to your Firstgiving page: try to have 5 give.

Ask 5 friends to contribute $10.

Find anyone else willing to pay all or part of the last $25 to see you in bright red heels!

Guess what? If you've done just these 5 things, you've rasied $250! It's easy and it adds up fast. Just think, if you got 10 coworkers and 10 friends, you'd have $100 more dollars! Remember, you don't put on heels for pennies! Make sure the photo opportunities your friends and family will get are worth it.

You can also consider forming fundraising teams to get someone else to walk, pooling your efforts and raising hundreds of dollars for WAVI. (Make sure the Walker is on board first!) For example, how much money could your office or buiding raise to see the president of the company in high heels? The CEO? Ladies, how much would your significant other's friends give to see him in such a state?

Your support ensures that WAVI's services are always available--be proud of your efforts to end domestic violence and sexual assault in our community!
