June 14th, 2009 is the annual Black Rock Day. This is a road race, parade, and event which celebrates the community of Black Rock. At the heart of our community is Black Rock Elementary School - a good old fashioned brick neighborhood school. One with wonderful teachers, adminstrators, and students.
However, as part of Bridgeport, funding is tight, and thus we are often in a fundraising mode. Last Thanksgiving, many of us (some pictured) raised $7,000 towards our goal of a new playground.
This June there will be MANY of us walking and running in the Black Rock Day road race and are seeking any support you can give to continue to help of reach our goal of a new playground.
Black Rock Families for Excellence as th leader in these fundraising efforts is close to gaining our non-profit status which will allow up to further our fundraising efforts. As of now, we are using the infrastructure of the Burroughs Community Center to help us with our cause. Thanks to them.
We hope to see you on Black Rock Day and thanks for your support.
The many parents of Black Rock School!!!
