Help the SPCA Wildlife Care Center raise funds for new Anesthesia Equipment

Now until September 30, 2009

The SPCA Wildlife Care Center admits more than 13,000 injured and orphaned animals per year.  Treating traumatic injuries is an important part of our work. Just like any human trauma center, immediate surgical intervention is frequently necessary. Besides surgical procedures, general anesthesia is almost always required when taking radiographs.  Even bandage changes and physical therapy require general anesthesia.

The current anesthesia delivery system at our non-profit center is in dire need of replacement. The machine itself is end of life, and replacement parts are no longer available.  The system in place is also lacking a positive pressure ventilator.  Approximately 70% of our trauma patients are birds, which have high metabolic demand, and the lack of ability to control ventilation in an emergency setting increases our morbidity and mortality.

We've made it simple for you to donate funds quickly & easily for the SPCA Wildlife Care Center.

Over the past 40 years, the SPCA Wildlife Care Center has grown to be the largest facility of its kind in Florida.  Last year alone, nearly 13,000 sick, injured and orphaned animals passed through the Center's doors.

The SPCA Wildlife Care Center's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release native wildlife that has been harmed or displaced; to treat and place certain needy domestic, exotic and farm animals; and to educate the public toward co-existence with all animals.
