Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
My name is Bill Youngson from Nassau County Police NY I am currently assigned to the 7th Pct. The 7th Pct lost officer Gary Farley 3-7-1993 Line of Duty. This was a call for an EDP gone bad. An assignment that could have taken any one of us regardless of rank. This year I will be riding in his honor and the funds I raise will be presented in his memory. I will be riding my bicycle with the Police Unity Tour Chapter 37 from the World Trade Center to the Police Memorial in Washington DC wearing a bracelet that will be presented to his son who is a NCPD officer now as well.
On Friday March 5, 1993 at 8:30 p.m., Officer Farley was present at 150 Division Avenue, Massapequa, New York in response to a complaint of a violent mental aided case. While attempting to subdue the aided person Officer Farley was struck in the chest by the subject. Following the altercation, Officer Farley complained to the other Officers that he had pains in his hand, arm, and shoulder and did not feel well. At 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 1993 Officer Farley collapsed. He was transported to N.C.M.C., where he was placed on a respirator. He was pronounced dead at 3:00 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 1993.
"We Ride for Those Who Died" is our motto and I am honored to be a participant. On May 13th, 2009 we will have a candlelight vigil honoring all the law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. I hope you find it in your hearts to help with this great cause. There is a National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Museum being built in Washington DC and the Police Unity Tour is a primary sponsor. If you want more information you can visit the Chapter 37 website at www.policeunitytour37.com .
Every year hundreds of law enforcement officers die in the line of duty. Nothing can ever replace them to their family and friends. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. allows for their memories to live on and honor these men and women forever. The Police Unity Tour Incorporated was formed in 1997 by a group of law enforcement officers from New Jersey who rode their bicycles from Florham Park, New Jersey to Washington, D.C. For the past twelve years, law enforcement officers nationwide have ridden the 300 plus mile trip, with the purpose of raising awareness and financial support for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The Police Unity Tour has grown from 18 members to over 1100 nationwide who will be making the trip this year. Because of your generosity, over 5.6 million dollars has been donated to the Memorial, making the Police Unity Tour the single largest supporter of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. We are proud of our accomplishments. You can be proud too, knowing that you are contributing to this worthy cause. The Police Unity Tour is a non-profit organization under section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue code, therefore, donations made to the Police Unity Tour are fully tax deductible. With help like yours, it allows the Police Unity Tour to continue to be the largest supporter of the Memorial as well as a founding partner in the National Law Enforcement Museum, which is scheduled to break ground in 2009. For donations of $1000.00 or more, you will receive a commemorative gift, a plaque from Chapter 37 – New York, signifying your commitment.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT
