My personal message:

Dear Friend,

Raritan Valley Habitat Women Build has been fundraising for the home of Charisse Roberts since September 2007.  Most of the money raised has come from generous donations to our Women Builders through pledges.  We have also raised funds with help from the Bridgewater Commons Mall in such activities as "Girls Night Out."  Lowe's, as a National Women Build sponsor, has also contributed to our home through three $5000 gift certificates.

We are happy to say that we have raised $94,124 toward the $100,000 needed for Women Build to be a full supporter of the home!!  This includes pledges from a small Women Build on June 13.  That leaves us a little over $5876 short.  We really hope to reach the $100,000 by the house dedication date of June 27, 2009.  We hope you will help us reach this goal by sharing this page with friends and family.

If we happen to go over our goal, the money will be the start of funds for our next Women Build Home, which will be in Bridgewater.  We won't stop!  Women Build accomplishes so much and brings safe, affordable housing to many.

Decent, affordable housing is scarce in Somerset and Hunterdon counties, forcing many low-income families to live in overcrowded, unsafe conditions. The Women Build program challenges women to build a better future for the children of central New Jersey by addressing the problem of substandard housing.  Women Build gives other women and their families a “hand up” by helping them to build a home of their own.  Families put in sweat equity and repay a no-interest mortgage to Habitat.

I would like to share a conversation I had with Charisse when I was helping her hang insulation on the walls of her home during a Women Build day.  I said, "Charisse, look at the view out this window.  This is where your kitchen sink will be."  Charisse replied, "I know, I was so excited when I saw this.  I have always had this dream that I could wash dishes at the sink while I watched my son play in the backyard.  Now that dream is coming true!"

With your help, We hope to make a real difference in the lives of a Charisse's family.  Any pledge amount you can offer will be greatly appreciated!

Please come to the dedication Saturday, June 27 at 10 am to see Charisse get the keys to her new home.

Thank you in advance for your support.
