Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page! Why am I fundraising?
On August 19th, 2003, my beloved little son Wyatt (9yo) and his father were killed in an automobile accident. Wyatt had Asperger Syndrome, a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder and was receiving speech & language/occupational therapies as well as behavioral assistance at school. He was a very bright and wonderful boy, and we worked dilligently with him at home, too. He made such huge advancements due to everyone's efforts. Hence, the Wyatt Holliday Foundation was born... (see www.WyattsHouse.org)
I am personally raising money because I have so many dreams and plans to help kids both locally as well as nationwide. To give you an idea of how we are reaching for the stars, the following are planned: - Statewide and nationwide expansion of therapy programs - An after school program, first local, then expanding - A fully wheelchair accessible facility with 10-15 acres including equine and swimming facilities - Respite programs and camps - Intensive therapy camps - Parent workshops - Nutrition program - A permanent parent support group meeting place
Please help me make this happen. Insurance doesn't cover a great deal of therapies, some only partially. Schools don't always provide sufficient services needed for a child's success. Many families have no means to help their child. I know first hand what it is like to choose between buying food or paying rent and paying for therapies - it is heart-wrenching. Wyatt was able to speak quite well only because of his efforts and the very intensive therapies he received. As his Mom, that meant the world to me.
Today nonprofits have an even more difficult time raising much needed funds due to both domestic and international tragedies. Using technology offered by firstgiving.com is an excellent way to enable individuals to make a huge difference through grass roots fundraising. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. If you can, please consider making a donation today. If you want to help our cause, please create your own fundraising page for the Wyatt Holliday Foundation by choosing "I want a page like this" and help our cause.
Many thanks for your support, and hug your kids.
