Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is the International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault & gender violence. The YWCA Silicon Valley hosts this unique event during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to call attention to the staggering statistics associated with sexual assault: one-in-three women and one-in-five men, regardless of socio-economic status, will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime.
This event takes place on April 27th at Plaza de Cesar Chavez at 5:00 p.m. ending at the San Jose Repertory in downtown San Jose, where walkers and supporters enjoy a festive reception. This year’s event focuses on team participation. We are encouraging walkers to become team captains and invite family and friends to join. Also, we ask registered team members to raise a minimum of $100.00. Proceeds go in support of YWCA’s Rape Crisis Center & other YWCA assault-prevention services.
